June 02, 1951 Retired Married
I moved to Lakeland, FL, from Homewood, in early 1980 and enjoyed many years of employment in administrative and management positions with several contracting, engineering and surveying firms.  I divorced in 1988, after raising my stepson and remarried in 1997, to Steve Newman, a widowed neighbor of mine and Florida Southern College alumni.  After almost 19 years of marriage, I couldn't have asked for a more devoted, loving, goal-driven partner.  We are grandparents to 6 children in central Florida.  In 1999, we purchased a large timber tract in SW Georgia, developed the property, built a cabin and became certified pine tree farmers.  Upon early retirements, in 2007, we sold our Florida condo and permanently relocated to our farm.  In late 2013, we sold our 224 acre farm and moved a few hours north, to middle Georgia and purchased a 318 acre timber tract and built a rustic, custom barn home in 2014 and continue to manage our timber, with emphasis on wildlife preservation.  Earlier this year, we purchased two extensively trained trail horses and enjoy riding.  My immediately family, from Birmingham, are all deceased but I continue to visit many cousins and friends there.  Our health is very good and we don't take for granted, how fortunate we truly are!

November 11, 1950 retired Middle School Teacher Married 2

I cannot believe that it has been 40 years.  I suppose some catching up is in order.  I attended Auburn University, leaving in my junior year after getting married (Jim Noland '67).  Jim was commissioned a Navy Ensign and off we went to see the world.  We have moved 13 times in our 39 years together.  Jim retired from the Navy in 1992 and flies for Southwest Airlines.  He just traded an F-18 for a 737.   It is very hard to keep him on the ground  I on the other hand, finished college, reared two little boys, and taught middle school science for 20 years in 5 states.  We have two beautiful grandsons in Macon, Georgia.  Their dad is an attorney and their mom stays home with them.  Our other son lives in San Diego, CA with his best friend, Crystal.  He is a Hair Stylist with Paul Mitchell Inc,. and she is 2 semesters from her RN.  Jim and I have settled on a large lake on the North Carolina - Virginia border, Lake Gaston.  We refuse to move again and why would we want to;
our backyard is a beautiful lake with over 300 miles of shoreline.  We have critters and every possible kind of water bird.  The racoons get in the garbage, the possums are not always friendly, the deer eat my azaleas, the Canada Geese poop in my yard and we wouldn't live anywhere else on the planet.  When Jim is not flying, he fishes and shoots skeet at his gun club.  He is also a member of the local Lions Club and the United Methodist Men.  I ride my jet ski, volunteer at a food bank, garden, represent abused and neglected children in court, play bridge, raise money for Cancer Research, and have a small antique business with a friend.  We enjoy boating and traveling.   We attend a 200 year old White Frame United Methodist Church in Brunswick County Virginia.  We share our home with our kittens, Simon and Garfunkle.  We are very blessed.  We are so looking forward to catching up with all of you.  Hugs, Bev

November 08, 1951 IT/Data Manager- Aerotec LLC Married 2
After I left Berry (finally in '70 actually..I had some unfinished business with Ms Autrey) I wandered around doing all kinds of jobs including working a shipyard, taxicab driver, cable technician, short order cook, you name it. I then went to UAB and majored in Physics, got a job at the NBC affiliate in Birmingham as a news photographer and worked there for 12 years. Got married to my co-worker Jenny and then started my own media/software business which I sold 12 years later. I found Jesus 14 years ago which obviously changed the direction of my life from that point on. I worked in missions to Tanzania, Africa for a year and then went to work for current employer Aerotec LLC as their IT Director and Data Manager. Jenny and I have been married 26 years and have two sons, 24 and 15. I still enjoy playing the guitar and acting as crew chief on my younger son's sprint car. We are so blessed and thankful for all that God has given us. It has been fun to read everyone's story.

While completing a Master's Degree in Biology and Chemistry, I worked in Cardiovascular Research at UAB with Dr. Kirklin and the other cardiovascular surgeons conducting clinical and laboratory research and publishing our results with the American Heart Association between 1971 and 1979. A friend introduced me to an opportunity with State Farm Insurance company in 1979 and I made a slight career change and opened my independent State Farm Agency. It was the right decision that has had a positive impact on my life and others for the past 30 plus years. I enjoy golf and boating. Myra and I have had the opportunity to work with a number of charities and participate in their fund-raising activities, and have enjoyed the beach, lake, and traveling. We are having a good time working with the reunion committee and look forward to catching up with each of you during April 16 and 17. Send Dean a MessageSend Dean a Message
