Chris Blake

Chris was my next door neighbor. He went to a private school until his senior year and then went to Berry. Chris left too soon as I never got to thank him for suggesting a great name for my rock band. Chris was required to read more books in school than I was, and he had read Lord of the Rings. I had not. One day Chris came to me saying he had thought of a great name for my band. "Followers of Frodo" he suggested imagining what a great name this would be. Since I never read Lord of the Rings, I had no idea who Frodo was and thought that was the dumbest band name I had ever heard! I laughed out loud and told Chris how horrible the name was. . . 30 years later I go to the movies to see Lord of the Rings and I find out who Frodo is! Oh my God. Chris I apologize. I'm not sure I would have chosen it for a band name but I understand why you suggested it and am totally embarrassed by my reaction. . . Life lessons are so important and unexpected. Thanks Chris, you were a good friend and a great neighbor. Rest in peace.

We were sandbox buddies.  Chris was one of the mosttalented, and sometimes tortured, souls I've ever known.  Welost an extraordinary human being when we lost Chris.  Hewas truly one of the good guys.
