1950-10-24 2024-06-22
Nancy Hamilton Bagby died June 22, 2024 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born on October 24, 1950 in Mobile, Alabama, the older daughter of Price Hamilton and his wife Alma Nance Hamilton, who both predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her sister, Wynn Hamilton Oldham. She is survived by her husband the Reverend John Blythe Bagby, Sr., her sons, John Blythe Bagby Jr. (Callie) and Price Hamilton (Ham) Bagby. She was very proud of her grandsons, Milo, Jack and John Blythe (J.B.) Bagby III. She is also survived by her cousin Peggy Farlow Lee (Jim), several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Nancy graduated from Berry High School and then attended the University of Alabama where she was a member of the Phi Mu sorority.

She later started the successful Beauty Market in Homewood, which she and her partner Gail Bayer owned for several years. They were so proud of the fact that they never had a cross word for the many years they owned it. She was a member of the Junior League, Highland Book Club, Rockbrook Garden Club and was a founding member of the Weedeater's Garden Club and of the Pickwick Dance Club. She was also President of the Ballet Guild.

Nancy was very involved in the Episcopal churches where her husband was called to serve. She particularly enjoyed serving on the Commission on Ministry. Nancy had a keen eye for flower arranging, interior design and art. Everything was prettier after she touched it. She loved to travel and was in several groups that traveled around the world and across the United States. She was a nurturer and a gatherer. She would get her friends together and then they would become friends. She was often the person that groups centered around. She was so much fun.

The family would like to thank Joanne Brown and Keisha Smith for all of their help and many kindnesses.

The memorial service will be held at St. Stephens Episcopal Church on Thursday, June 27th at 4:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice.
